Sounds of Summer – “Overload” on Life of Dillon; Ride the Jutaun “River”
Last year, Meghan Trainor became a household name with her bootylicious female anthem “All About That Bass.” While that song was huge, the singer/songwriter proved she was more than simply a one-hit wonder with her ginormous debut album Title. This summer, Trainor is hitting the road (not literally – it’d be pretty pointless and, well, hurt) via the dubbed “MTRAIN” tour. She won’t be alone. Opening up for the breakthrough artist will be a band of brothers (literally) who are following her example by releasing a big-sound single and following suit with an EP (Prologue) that will sock your knocks off. They may be as big as some bass. Just listen to Life of Dillon’s summer anthem “Overload,” which makes me want to lay down on the sand, and play the song high in my earbuds at dangerously high levels. I’m not alone. The dance-pop song’s already placed on the Top 40 and Hot AC.
Earlier this month, longtime UK pals David Kieffer and brothers Joe and Rob Griffith performed a pair of acoustic tracks (including a stripped-down “Overload”) exclusively for A-Sides at Primary Wave and sat down for a chatt. Keep an eye on these guys.

From Life of Dillon to the life of Jutaun, another trio (again, two of them bros) who churn out summer-inspired original music (pop, reggae, soul, other genres converge here). The New Jersey band of Jake and Jamie Evans and Samoeun Cheng have been getting some love for their single “By the River,” which charted on the AAA Billboard Charts as well as from iconic music producer Leon Huff (Dusty Springfield, The O’Jays), who’s taken them under his wing.
A few weeks back, Jutaun performed two songs in NYC (filmed by Chris Williams) – “By the River” being one of them, and were interviewed about where they’re going and where they’ve been. Watch it all unfold below…

A-Sides “Delve Into Twelve” Countdown
Each week A-Sides unleashes its top 12 tracks of the week AKA the “Delve Into Twelve” based on the following contributing factors: songs I’m playing out that particular week (no matter when they were released – think overlooked songs, unreleased tracks and old favorites), songs various publicists are trying to get me to listen to that I did and dug a bunch, song posts and trends I’ve noticed on my friends’ Facebook walls and, most importantly: what my toddler is currently enjoying thoroughly with an assist from my newborn.
About A-Sides With Jon Chattman:
Jon Chattman’s music series features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres of music performing a track and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles, just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and overmanufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. Artists have included fun., Charli XCX, Imagine Dragons, James Bay, X-Ambassadors, Joe Perry, Gary Clark Jr., STP, American Authors, and many, many more!
