“Liars,” Check Yo Self Before You Wrecks Yo Self

Dark Helmet took it to ludicrous speed, and so have The Wrecks. Google that reference if you don’t get it by the way. What I’m saying is the Los Angeles band have been on the fast track from the second they formed some 15-months ago. Let’s prove that point below, and then have the band reinforce it below in an embed interview.

The Wrecks recorded an EP on the fly by recording in the studio in the home a friend was house sitting at. Three tracks came out of it, and in less than a year, “Favorite Liar” has been playing on repeat on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation alongside Bastille, The xx, Young The Giant, The 1975 to name a few. It’s also ranked in the top five of that channel’s “Alt 18.” Oh, and the song has over three million plays on Spotify. A record deal soon followed. Say what? Are you kidding me? Last month, the band performed and chatted at the Music Conservatory of Westchester to talk about their fast rise to success. Watch everything below, and it doesn’t take a genius to see why they’re on their way to alt-pop domination. Enjoy the show kids.

About A-Sides with Jon Chattman – thisisasides.com

Jon Chattman’s music/entertainment series typically features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles — just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. Artists featured on the series include Imagine Dragons, Melissa Etheridge, Yoko Ono, Elle King, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, fun, Bleachers, Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, and Bastille.
